Red Hot Vikings Baseball Takes Two from Valley Forge

Toms River, NJ - The OCC Vikings baseball team (10-6) has been on a hot streak - offensively and defensively in their last four games. After defeating Middlesex CC on Thursday (3/29) by a 16-1 score, and then leading them on Friday (3/30) by a 12-2 score in a game halted by inclement weather, the Vikings continued their impressive play by sweeping a doubleheader from Valley Forge Military College on Saturday by final scores of 10-6 (Game 1) and 13-4 (Game 2). Ocean's pitching has been outstanding, with starters Don Zellman, Ian Ambrose, and Matt Malatesta throwing complete games, while the Vikings' bats have come alive as well, with several players contributing key hits at crucial moments.

The following players led the charge on Saturday:

Andrew Slinger - 4-5 with a home run and 5 RBI

Ryan Weiss -  3-3 with 2 doubles, and 2 RBI

Ron Velardi -  2-4 with a home run and 3 RBI

Five other players also had multiple hit games in the wins.

The Vikings will next begin a 7-game homestand, starting on Thursday, April 5 when they welcome Atlantic Cape CC for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
