Miller Leads OCC Men's Soccer Past Union County College, 3-0

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Men's Soccer improved to 6-3 overall (5-3 in GSAC) in a 3-0 shutout of the visiting Owls of Union County College on Tuesday (10/1).

The match was scoreless for the first 15 minutes, until Ocean freshman Aniello Lubrano put the Vikings on the board with a skillfully-converted penalty kick. The Vikings improved upon the lead when sophomore team captain Kevin Miller slotted home a precise finish (assisted by Harmony Bell-Gam) past a sprawling Jacques Fuentes to put Ocean up 2-0. Miller, who has been the leader and backbone of Ocean's defensive corps, strategically involves himself in the Viking attack as needed, and has two goals as a result of that forward-thinking, aggressive mindset. Ocean freshman William De La O rounded out team scoring in the 52nd minute by finishing a beautiful 25 yard shot past the Owls' goalkeeper, with an assist from Kevin Miller

OCC freshmen goalkeepers Riley Fahnholz and Matt Diaz shared the shutout, with Fahnholz playing 70 minutes and recording 7 saves and Diaz playing the remaining 20 minutes and recording 3 saves.

The Vikings next take on Monroe College (Bronx) at home this Friday (10/4), at 4 p.m.
