OCC Men's Soccer Tops Delaware County CC in Double OT, 2-1

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Soccer improved their overall record of 6-1 following a gritty, 2-1 double overtime victory against Delaware County CC.

After a somewhat slow start in the first half, one in which a penalty kick was conceded and converted by the Phantoms, the Vikings stepped up the pressure, getting the equalizing goal off a long range-driven shot from center back Ryan Brodeur in the match's 51st minute.

The match's game-winning goal was set up by Ocean defender Danny Moreno in the 108th minute, who advanced the ball into the Phantoms' half and slotted a pass out to left flank to captain Aniello Lubrano. After deceiving one defender, Lubrano then raced past another before sending home the game-winning golden goal. Lubrano currently sits at 8th in the nation with 10 goals on the season, and ranks 12th with 23 points.

The Vikings maintained the majority of possession throughout the second half and both OT periods while continuing to drive to the net, outshooting the Phantoms, 16-7.

Ocean put forth a great defensive effort and maintained composure in the face of an aggressive Delaware CCC attack, with goalkeeper Shane Cramer making an exceptional, game-saving stop in the second OT period. Cramer recorded 6 saves on the day.

Ocean (6-1) next travels to Region 19 rival Salem Community College on Tuesday, October 5 for a 2:45pm match.
