VIKINGS WIN! OCC Women's Basketball Tops Camden CC, 61-54 for 1st Win of Season

Toms River, NJ - The drought is over! The Ocean County College Women's Basketball team (1-16) won their first game of the season on Thursday (1/31) in a 61-54 victory against the visiting Cougars of Camden County College.

This was truly a team effort, with everyone contributing, from starters to subs. Freshmen Amy Galasso and Kyarra Williams led Viking scoring, with 24 and 19 points, respectively, while freshman Jenna Kulinski pulled down 12 rebounds, frequently stifling Camden's attempts at establishing a rhythm.

"We came into the game with a positive mindset. We knew this was a game we could win," remarked OCC Head Coach Avery Hodgson-Walters. "Every player was a key component in the game. Stefanie Gacho had a clutch rebound, and Lea Braen had a great offensive charge that really helped hang on to the lead. Coach Dana and I were so proud of how the women played and finished the game."

The Vikings will look for their second win of the season on Saturday, February 2nd, when they travel to Middlesex County College to take on the Blue Colts in a 12 p.m. matchup.
