Toms River, NJ - Congratulations to Brooke Schmidt and Steven Tapia, our OCC Vikings Players of the Week!
Women's Basketball freshman guard Brooke Schmidt (Lacey, NJ/Lacey) remains a force to be reckoned with on the Vikings. The Lacey, NJ native recorded her 6th double double of the season on January 30, with a 21-point, 12-rebound night against Brookdale CC, and scored 21 points while pulling down 8 rebounds in Ocean's next game versus Sussex on February 1. OCC Women's Basketball next hosts Bergen CC on Tuesday, February 4 at 5 P.M.
Sophomore Steven Tapia (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) began his 2nd season with OCC Men's Volleyball in midseason form, registering 16 points and 13 kills in Ocean's match versus Bryant & Stratton on February 2, along with 10 points and 17 digs later that same day against Nassau Community College. Tapia, a right side hitter, currently ranks in the national top ten in kills per set (2.5), digs per set (2.5), and total attacks per set (7.3), and will next take the court on Monday, February 10, when OCC Men's Volleyball travels to Brookdale CC for a 7 P.M. Region 19 match.
