OCC Baseball Alumni Lauria, Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Fernandez Named CAANJ 2019 Student Athletes of the Year

Toms River, NJ - Congratulations to OCC Baseball alumni Kyle Lauria and OCC Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Samantha Fernandez, both of whom were honored by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey (CAANJ). Kyle, a Spring '19 Ocean graduate, was named Male Student Athlete of the Year (Two-Year Colleges), while Samantha was named Female Student Athlete of the Year (Division II), in recognition of her academic and athletic (Women's Lacrosse) career at Georgian Court University.

Kyle was an NJCAA All-American third baseman who earned both first-team All-Region XIX and All-GSAC distinctions. In the classroom, he earned Garden State Athletic Conference accolades while graduating with a degree in General Science Studies with a 3.97 grade point average. A native of Point Pleasant, NJ, Kyle is currently continuing his education at SUNY Oswego.

Samantha Fernandez was a three-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in women's lacrosse, who earned All-Region honors after finishing her career as the program's All-Time leader in goals scored. In the classroom, she was recognized as an All-Academic honoree by ZAG Sports, CACC, and the IWLCA after graduating with a degree in Exercise Science with a 3.65 grade point average. A native of Toms River, NJ, Fernandez is the newly-appointed head coach for the Ocean County College Vikings women's lacrosse program.
