Toms River, NJ - Congratulations to OCC Esports sophomore Jackson French, who on December 11 won the Fall 2022 NJCAAE Championship in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
"Jackson won the national championship, defeating Jayson R. of Garden City Community College 3-1, and again 3-0 to win the double elimination Grand Championship," recounted OCC Esports Head Coach John Ruhl. "Jackson got over the hump this year. He came out strong his freshman season, taking second in the nation, then had two disappointing (for him) finishes of 4th. Tonight he came up big and started dominating - three-stocking an undefeated player who hadn't dropped a set all season or playoffs. After last season he was on the fence about coming back, but he took some time after a tough loss and started having fun with it this year. Congrats to Jackson who is our second National Champion in the last three years."
