Jackson French Finishes 2nd in Nation at NJCAAE Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Championships

Toms River, NJ - OCC Esports freshman Jackson French fell to Madison College, 4-2, in the championship round of the spring 2021 NJCAAE Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament on Sunday (5/2).

"Jackson took an early 2-0 lead with his Pokémon Trainer against Kaden's ROB, but after Kaden (from Madison College) counter-picked with a Fox, Jackson couldn't find an answer, and subsequently lost the next four sets," recounted OCC Esports Head Coach John Ruhl. "Jackson's first season ended with a 2nd place finish. He placed higher then 198 other competitors from schools around the country. I'm sure Jackson learned that he's good enough to be in there with the top talent in the league. Kaden is the defending champion from last year."

Jackson finished his spring campaign with a combined (regular/postseason) record of 13-1. Congratulations to Jackson for a remarkable season!
