Vikings Fall to CCBC Dundalk, 14-7

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings baseball team traveled to Baltimore and split a doubleheader against CCBC Dundalk on Sunday (3/12), winning the first game 6-1, and dropping the second by a score of 14-7.

Vikings sophomore Drew Zytko pitched a masterful complete game in the first contest, striking out 9 and allowing just 3 hits. First baseman Nick Moglia and third baseman Tom Pulcine supported Zytko's effort with offensive firepower, with Moglia going 3 for 4 with a 3-run home run, and Pulcine having a 2 for 3 afternoon with 2 runs batted in.

The Vikings' second game of the doubleheader resulted in a victory for CCBC Dundalk, to the tune of 14-7. Vikings' pitching got off to a rough start, as Dundalk ended the first inning ahead by 9 runs. After settling in, Vikings freshman Tom MacFarland threw 3 solid innings in relief, and freshman shortstop Andrew Slinger slugged a 2-run triple in the fifth inning.

Next up for the Vikings is a 3-game series against Atlantic Cape Community College on Friday and Saturday (3/17-18) before heading south to Myrtle Beach, SC to participate in games as part of the Ripken Experience.
