Vikings Baseball Continues Hot Streak with Sweep of Manhattan C.C.

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings baseball team continued their hot streak last weekend, winning their sixth straight game with a doubleheader sweep of Borough of Manhattan Community College on Saturday (3/25). The Vikings won the first game of the twin bill by the score of 7-3. Pitcher Drew Zytko threw a complete game, striking out 9 and not issuing a single base on balls. Sophomore Tom Pulcine led the offensive charge for the Vikings, going 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBI.

In game two, the Vikings headed into extra innings, winning the game 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth, courtesy of a deep sacrifice fly by Mike Calabrese, driving Tyler Kay across the plate with the winning run. Freshman Jared Haugland won the pitching decision with 2 solid innings of relief, and Tom Pulcine again led the Vikings' offensive efforts, with another triple and 3 RBI. 

After enjoying a few days off, the Vikings' will return to action on Friday (3/31, 3:30 p.m.) with a home game against Middlesex County College.
