Vikings Get Back on Track with Sweep of Bergen Community College

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Vikings Baseball returned to the win column in a significant way courtesy of a doubleheader sweep of region rival Bergen Community College on Sunday (4/23).

Vikings Sophomore pitcher Drew Zytko (6-3) continued his dominance on the mound with another complete game victory, as the Vikings defeated Bergen, 2-1 in game one. Sophomore second baseman Matt Corsi drove in Quintin Garvin as the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the 2nd inning.

In game two, freshman Dave DeFeo picked up his second win in relief, improving to 2-0 on the season, as the Vikings topped Bergen, 9-6. Freshman Mike Calabrese drove in two runs with an RBI double in the 4th inning, while freshman Andrew Slinger doubled in the go-ahead runs with a 2-run double in the 6th.

The Vikings are on the road this week, beginning with a Tuesday (4/25) doubleheader against Middlesex County College before heading to Pennsylvania on Wednesday for a single game with Montgomery County Community College, and a Friday matchup against Brookdale Community College. They return home on Saturday (4/28) for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
