Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Basketball slipped to an overall record of 1-6 on Tuesday (Dec. 14) with a 75-68 loss to the visiting Roadrunners of RCSJ Gloucester.
Ocean freshman Bryan Potter led the Vikings' offensive attack, scoring 20 points and pulling down 5 rebounds, while sophomore Jalen Jackson supplied 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss. Additionally, freshman Josh Kline continues to rob opponents left and right, with 20 steals over his last 4 games. The Vikings largely brought the intensity displayed in their previous game against the top-ranked Montgomery County CC Mustangs, but the Roadrunners proved too much to handle in the game's closing minutes.
Ocean's coaching staff spoke of noticing the positives, while focusing on improving. "We played hard, but just didn't pull it out down the stretch," remarked OCC Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Evan Andariese. "Bryan Potter solidified himself as a key guy going forward and we're really excited to see that continue. Never easy to accept a loss, but it's a long season and we have the pieces to make a run."
Head Coach Patrick Boylan shared similar sentiments: "Another tough defeat at home. We need to find a way to break this losing streak as soon as possible. It's all about weathering the storm right now and improving each day."
The Vikings return to action on Saturday, December 18, when they travel to Atlantic Cape Community College for a 2 P.M. tip-off.
