Sophomores Shine As Vikings Win Season Opener at RCSJ Cumberland, 73-71

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College's men's basketball program launched their 2022-23 season on Tuesday (11/15), with a gritty 73-71 win at conference rival RCSJ Cumberland.

Sophomores led the Viking attack for the duration, with both Ethan Paul (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Wes Deitch (17 points, 12 rebounds) earning double-doubles. Sophomore guard Bryan Potter was a force with 19 points and 6 rebounds, Josh Kline seemingly resumed his all-around excellence from last season, with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, while Dylan McCann dished out 6 assists along with 8 points.    

"Outstanding shooting and execution in the first half built the lead, and our toughness preserved it," remarked OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan. "It was a great, hard-fought conference road win."

The Vikings next take the court for their home opener on Thursday, November 17, when they host the Owls of Union College in a 5 P.M. GSAC Conference matchup.
