OCC Vikings Men's Basketball Wins 4 Straight, Defeats Bergen CC 90-75

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Men's Basketball earned their 4th consecutive win, and 11th overall via a 90-75 defeat of the visiting Bulldogs of Bergen Community College on Thursday (1/26).

Perhaps coming down from the high of upsetting nationally-ranked Atlantic Cape CC on Tuesday, the Vikings were slow to get started in this matchup and ice cold in both free throw and 3-point shooting throughout the contest, shooting 12 for 28 (42.9%) from the foul line, and 8 for 23 (34.8%) from 3-point land. However, the team managed to strike when it counted most, breaking a 73-73 stalemate with 6:20 remaining to outscore Bergen 17-2 to seize the win and continue their midseason hot streak. OCC sophomore Ethan Paul continued his stellar performance this season, double-doubling with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Dallas Weisse contributed 20 points and 6 rebounds in the win. Ethan is currently averaging 19.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this season. Sophomore forward Bryan Potter posted his highest scoring total since Ocean's season opener, with a 14-point, 6-rebound effort, while freshman Channing Williams was furious in the paint, with 13 boards.

"Last night we were very fortunate to overcome a slow start," remarked OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan. "We struggled defensively throughout most of the game, but we were able to secure a few timely stops late in the game to pull away. Bryan Potter was outstanding and Dallas and EP carried us offensively. Overall, we're definitely happy to get the win, but still know we have a lot of work to do to prepare for next week's games."

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday, January 31, when they welcome the Passaic County Community College Panthers to campus for a 6 P.M. matchup.
