Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Basketball continued their impressive run to start the season, earning their 3rd consecutive win against no losses on Thursday (11/14) with an 80-59 defeat of the visiting RCSJ Gloucester Roadrunners.
Hitting the court with the same high energy, aggressive defensive pressure and ball distribution that marked their first 2 games of the season, the Vikings ended the first 20 minutes ahead by 3, and bolstered the lead to over 20 through the majority of the second half, with dual threats Jamari Smith (22 points) and Dorian Alston (19 points, 10 rebounds) setting the pace. Sophomore Dekari Harrell flustered the Roadrunners at every turn, pulling in 5 rebounds and 4 steals while firing off 4 assists in the win.
"Defense was the key to this victory. Our effort defensively in the second half allowed us to extend the lead and we were able to close the game out from there," recounted OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan. "Dorian Alston and Jamari Smith were dominant forces on both sides of the ball. They are both playing at such high levels right now, and as a team we are feeding off of their efforts."
The Vikings will look for win #4 on Saturday, November 16, when they travel to Northampton CC for a 2 P.M. matchup versus the Spartans.
