Ocean CC Men's Basketball Takes Down Brookdale CC in a Battle of Jersey Shore Heavyweights

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Basketball defeated conference rival Brookdale CC in an 84-81 thriller on Thursday (1/30). The win marked Ocean's 5th in their last 6 games as the team charges into the final month of the regular season and works toward earning a place in the playoff picture.

The Vikings began this matchup aggressive on both ends of the court, and maintained that energy throughout what was arguably their most complete 40 minute performance, forcing 19 Brookdale turnovers, and pulling out 11 steals before an electric Ocean crowd. OCC freshman guard Myles Marabuto led Viking scoring with 16 points and 4 steals, while Kai Barckley maximized his 16 minutes on the court with 14 points and 3 rebounds in a heated matchup where ball distribution was constant, and multiple Vikings made shots and stops precisely when needed most.

"Great team win last night, at home, in front of a packed house," remarked OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan. "We did an outstanding job of remaining composed in the 2nd half after Brookdale hit some very tough shots down the stretch. We were able to overcome those shots and got a crucial defensive stop when we needed it the most. We were also able to showcase our depth last night with 43 points off the bench! Great win, and now we have to get ready for Sussex."

OCC Men's Basketball next heads to Sussex County CC for a 2 P.M. tip off against the Skylanders.
