Vikings Top Delaware Tech; Ranked Eighth in Nation in Coaches' Poll

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings Men's Lacrosse team defeated Delaware Technical Community College by a final score of 19-8, improving their record to 6-2 (3-0 in the GSAC), placing the team in first place in Region XIX. Del Tech opened the game's scoring early, established a 2-0 lead less than 3 minutes into the contest, but the Vikings surged in response and did not look back, ending the first half with a 14-2 lead. Freshman Tyler Kalmowitz scored 7 goals in the Vikings' victory, giving him 33 over the team's 8 games this season. Kiernan Quinn contributed 5 goals, and Eric Gray scored 4, while goalie Mike Trezza posted 6 saves on 13 shots faced. 

The Vikings' performance this season has caused the Conference to take notice, as the team has been ranked eighth in the nation as voted upon by the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (full list can be viewed here) in a poll ending on 4/3. The team is on a 3-game winning streak, and returns to action this Saturday (4/8), when they travel to Long Island, NY to take on the 2016 Region XV champions, Nassau Community College (4-3) for a 12:00 p.m. match-up.
