Vikings Defeat Del Tech, 16-7, Advance to Region XIX Championship

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings Men's Lacrosse team defeated Delaware Technical Community College by a final score of 16-7 on Friday, advancing to the NJCAA Region XIX Championship game on Sunday, where they will face top-ranked Union County College.

The Vikings stormed out of the gate, scoring early and often, with Kiernan Quinn assisting Tyler Kalmowitz on the first two goals of the game before scoring three straight unassisted goals of his own, opening up a 5-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the first quarter. Quinn played a significant role in the Vikings' offensive attack, with 4 goals and 6 assists on the day. Del Tech drew as close as 10-6 in the third quarter, courtesy of three unanswered goals by Matthew Viramontes, but the Vikings answered with six more goals, slamming the door shut on the comeback attempt.

The Vikings next host Union County College on Sunday (4/30) at 3 p.m. in the NJCAA Region XIX Championship, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Championship Quarterfinal, to be held on May 6, hosted by the higher seed.
