Vikings Conclude Playoff Run with 23-6 Loss to Howard Community College

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings Men's Lacrosse team ended their postseason run on Saturday (5/6) with a loss to Howard Community College, 23-6, in the NJCAA Championship Quarterfinals at the HCC Athletic Complex in Columbia, MD.

Less than a week removed from winning their first-ever Region XIX championship in thrilling, 4-OT fashion against Union County College (recap), the Vikings had their work cut out for them, considering that their upcoming opponent had defeated Union by 27 goals earlier in the season. Defeating Howard was going to take everything Ocean had, and unfortunately they did not have enough. The Dragons scored early and often, opening up a 9-0 lead within the game's first 9 minutes and never looking back. The Vikings ended the first half losing 17-5, and managed to score one more goal in the game's closing seconds, when Tyler Kalmowitz scored unassisted.

The Vikings finished their 2016-17 campaign with a record of 10-5, and the Region XIX championship. Congratulations to the Vikings for a truly outstanding season.
