Toms River, NJ - OCC Vikings Men's Lacrosse defeated the Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College by a 21-13 final score at the 2018 NJCAA Region XIX Semifinals today, advancing to tomorrow's (4/29) championship game against top-ranked Delaware Tech CC.

This afternoon marked the 2nd meeting in as many games between Ocean and Brookdale, with the Vikings winning the previous matchup, 14-7. Brookdale came out aggressive today, notching 2 straight goals just 3 minutes into the contest, but the lead would not last. Ocean's Gavin Murphy struck 1st for the Vikings, sending them on a run which seemingly had no end. The Vikings lead by 9 heading into halftime, with a 13-4 lead established. The Vikings remained in the lead as the 2nd half began, and ended with the 21-13 win.

Leading the Vikings on offense were Nick Parente (6g), Walter Matthies (5g), Gavin Murphy (3g, 1a), and Matt Ferullo (2g, 2a). Ocean's defensive unit was spectacular once more, with Joe Jinks (7gb), Shawn Poole (6gb) and Hunter Vojtko (6gb) controlling the action.

The Vikings return to the field on Sunday, April 29 when they take on #1-ranked Delaware Tech CC for the Region XIX Championship. The action begins at 1 p.m.
