Ocean Loses in Double-Overtime to NJCAA Division 1's Burlington CC, 3-2

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College men's soccer Vikings fell to Rowan College at Burlington County, 3-2 in double overtime. After conceding two Burlington goals, one late in the first half and the other 10 minutes into the second, the Vikings mounted a comeback by scoring goals in the 60th and 64th minute to equalize and send the hard-fought battle into overtime. Scoring in the 60th minute for Ocean was Ryan Cheslock, assisted from Stewart Villavicencio. Just four minutes later, the Vikings enacted a set play to devastating effect, as Doug Jensen delivered a precision service to Scott Larsen, who set up Matt Singh for the game-tying goal. The Vikings, who fought hard defensively in the first half, dominated the second half of play, as well as overtime. Additionally, OCC goalkeeper Robert Andrade was outstanding throughout the match, making 13 saves to anchor the Viking defense. Burlington, who outshot Ocean 18-10, scored off of a cross in the second OT period to seal the victory. The Vikings are now 6-2 overall, with an undefeated 5-0 record in Region 19 play. Their next Region 19 matchup is on Tuesday, September 26 at Raritan Valley Community College, with a 4 p.m. start.
