Dos Santos, Cambra Power OCC Men's Soccer to Thrilling Double-OT Win at RCSJ Cumberland

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Vikings Men's Soccer improved to 2-0 on the season with an explosive 3-2 win in double overtime against RCSJ - Cumberland on Tuesday (9/10).

An aggressive Dukes team established a 1-0 lead in the match's 35th minute, and pushed to 2-0 in the 70th before Ocean responded with a thrilling header by sophomore Mike Cambra (assisted by Cory Branz) in the 75th, bringing the Vikings to within one. Ocean siezed momentum at that point, culminating in Dom Dos Santos intercepting a Cumberland pass, and blasting a goal into the lower left to tie the score in the match's 80th minute.

With the energy level of the match at a fever pitch, the teams headed into overtime. In the 104th minute of play, Ocean's Mike Cambra broke free from his defender, angled in front of Cumberland's net, and set Dom Dos Santos up for his 2nd goal of the game, ending this hard-fought battle with a Vikings victory.

Ocean's defensive battery of Oliver Peluso-Nora, Justin Alves, Kevin Miller and Brad Bischoff were outstanding all match, holding Cumberland to just 10 shots on goal, as goalkeeper Riley Fahnholz picked up his 2nd win of the season (and of his collegiate career).

The Vikings return to the pitch on Saturday, September 14th, when they welcome top-ranked Bucks County Community College to campus for a 12 p.m. Region XIX matchup.
