OCC Men's Soccer Battles National #7 Raritan Valley to a Draw

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Soccer (5-1-1) battled national #7 Raritan Valley Community College to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday (9/26), in one of the Region's most hotly-contested battles of the week.

Ocean sophomore midfielder Kerem Satar scored his 3rd goal of the season in the match's 4th minute to put the Vikings in the lead. Satar, a Manahawkin, NJ native, capitalized on an errant Raritan pass, and drilled a shot from left-center, 25 yards out, to beat Raritan goalkeeper Juan Orozco for the unassisted score. The lead would hold, due in no small part to the fantastic play in the midfield by Mattia Assante DiCupillo and defense by AJ Truszkowski, until the Lions scored in the 88th minute, grabbing a draw in the match's closing moments. The Vikings outshot Raritan, 10-4 in this one.

"Goal of the year from Kerem, and the best game of the season from AJ thus far," remarked OCC Men's Soccer Head Coach Sal Colino. "AJ's leadership on the field embodied the Viking toughness that is central to our program."

The Vikings return to action on Saturday, September 30, when they host the Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College in a 1:30 P.M. Region 19 matchup.
