Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Soccer snapped a 4-match winless skid with authority on Saturday (10/5), earning a 4-0 statement win against the visiting Owls of Union College of NJ.
Ocean freshman midfielder Adal Garcia opened Viking scoring in the 9th minute, capitalizing on a free kick for his 2nd goal in his last 2 games. Ocean's lead was then bolstered in the 43rd minute by sophomore forward Jayson Nardone, who converted an assist from freshman defender/midfielder Chase Norling to close out the half with a 2-goal lead.
The Vikings returned to the 2nd half with as aggressive an offensive attack as they'd brought in the 1st, maintaining possession and concentrating the large majority of match play in Union's half of the pitch. Ocean sophomore midfielder Alex Baginski added a further insurance goal in the 48th minute, while freshman defender/midfielder Aidan Marotta issued the Vikings' final salvo in the 79th minute, delivering a pass from sophomore midfielder Ethan Riley to the back of Union's net.
The Vikings outshot the Owls, 15-6, as sophomore goalkeeper Brett Leschinski made 5 stops to secure the shutout win. OCC Men's Soccer will return to action on Tuesday, October 8, when they welcome Montgomery County CC to Toms River for a 4 P.M. match.
