OCC Men's Tennis Shuts Out Mercer CCC in Season Opener, 7-0

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College's Men Tennis season opener was a battle both between respective Vikings teams, and collectively, against the elements, as the players tried to get their matches in before rainy weather brought a halt to the proceedings. Ocean's 1st doubles team of sophomore returners John Willis and Adam Grelak impressed in their 2024 debut, picking up a decisive 8-2 win, while OCC's 2nd doubles pairing of Sebastian Ferrer and Frank Staerk dominated to the tune of 8-0 in their flight. In singles play, the Ocean Vikings dispatched the Mercer Vikings across the board, with 1st and 2nd singles being cut short early due to inclement weather.

2. Adam Grelak (OCC) vs. Rasheam Johnson (MCCC) - (Rain Out) 6-3, 1-0
3. Sebastian Ferrer (OCC) defeated Jack Wolfarth (MCCC) - 6-1, 6-0
4. Frank Staerk (OCC) defeated Jefferson Guerra (MCCC) - 6-0, 6-0
5. Anthony Raimondi (OCC) won via forfeit
6. Yael Carpinteyro (OCC) won via forfeit

DOUBLES:

1. Willis/Grelak (OCC) defeated Wong/Johnson (MCCC) - 8-2
2. Ferrer/Staerk (OCC) defeated Wolfarth/Guerra (MCCC) - 8-0
3. Raimondi/Carpinteyro (OCC) won via forfeit 

OCC Men's Tennis will try for their 2nd win to start the season on Wednesday, April 3, when they host the Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College at 3:30 P.M.
