OCC Vikings Men's Volleyball Improves to 2-0 Following 3-1 Win Versus Middlesex

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Volleyball are off to a strong start in their inaugural season, having earned their 2nd win in as many matches following a 3-1 defeat of the visiting Blue Colts of Middlesex College on Wednesday (3/1).

The teams were evenly matched, and battled for control of each set, with Ocean taking the 1st, 25-15, before falling behind in the 2nd to the tune of 25-19. Set 3 was fiercely contested, with the Vikings pushing past with a 30-28 edge before closing out the Colts in set #4 with a 25-23 win. Colts sophomore outside hitter Michael Nycz was a consistent threat, belting Ocean's front line with spikes, but the Vikings were able to withstand the attack and return fire, with Tyler Iozzi and Sergio Costa leading the charge.

"Great blocks and sets by Tyler tonight, and an amazing blocking game by Sergio," remarked OCC Men's Volleyball Head Coach Madisyn Raguz. "Chris Primiano passed well, and we had strong service from Jake Sullivan. This was a great team effort tonight."

The Vikings return to the court on Friday, March 3, when they travel to Passaic County Community College for a 6 P.M. GSAC Conference matchup against the Panthers.
