OCC Men's Volleyball Strong in Season-Opening 3-0 Shutout of Passaic CCC

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Volleyball opened their 2024 season on Saturday (2/17) with an impressive 3-0 shutout of visiting Passaic County Community College (set scores: 25-22, 25-11, 25-21). Ocean, who captured the Region 19 and Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) championships in their inaugural season last year, were a bit slow to start in this match, with a number of unforced errors in the 1st set allowing the Panthers to stay in contention, before settling down and delivering a blistering 2nd set and ultimately closing Passaic out in a sweep.

OCC freshman outside hitter Danny Kejda led the Vikings on both sides of the ball, with 13.5 points, 12 kills, and 7 digs, while freshman rightside hitter Steven Tapia blasted 7 points and had 6 kills in the victory. Additionally, OCC sophomore Tyler Iozzi was instrumental on offense, as the 2023 All-Region 19/All GSAC setter picked up a whopping 31 assists in this match.

"Great 1st game for us, with strong defense and swings from Danny, and awesome assists from Tyler," stated OCC Men's Volleyball Head Coach Madisyn Raguz.

OCC Men's Volleyball next takes the court on Wednesday, February 21, when they host the Bears of Harcum College in a 6:30 P.M. matchup.
