OCC Men's Volleyball Earns 3rd Straight Shutout to Start Season

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Volleyball continued their red-hot start to their 2024 season on Monday night (2/26), earning a 3-0 sweep at Passaic County CC. The Vikings have won their 1st 3 matches to start the season, all via shutout.

Solid defense coupled with a potent, all-hands-on-deck offensive attack have been key to the Vikings' early success, and both were evident tonight, with libero Ryan McCorry reaching deep for 13 digs, and 3 players scoring in double figures (Danny Kejda (11 pts), Jimmy Baxes (10 pts), Sam Barney (10 pts), made possible in large part by sophomore Tyler Iozzi's match-leading 31 assists. Tyler is currently ranked 2nd nationally with 10.11 assists per set, while both Danny Kejda and Jimmy Baxes are in the national top 10 in kills per set, with Kejda ranked 3rd with 3.3 kills/set, and Baxes 8th with 3.

"Ryan was quite the leader on the court tonight, and played great defense and serve/receive," remarked OCC Men's Volleyball Head Coach Madisyn Raguz. "Jimmy landed some timely kills for us as well."

The Vikings play their 4th match of the season on Wednesday, February 28, when they visit Brookdale Community College for a 6:30 P.M. matchup versus the Jersey Blues.
