Vikings Sweep Double Header Against Cumberland County College

Toms River, NJ - The Vikings dominated the field against the nationally ranked Dukes of Cumberland County. In this weeks poll the Dukes pulled ahead of the Vikings to the 9th position and the Vikings held on earning the 10th position in the poll. Although falling behind in the poll the Vikings did not let that bring them down and they ended the day with two strong wins against the Dukes.

Ashley Hussey picked up her 7th win for the season. In the first game of the double header the Vikings offense came out battling hard. Kurstin Binshedler who went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored, started the inning with a base hit. Adelle Hickman who went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored followed Kurstin Binshedler with an on base bunt that led to runners on first and second no outs and Kara Molnar at the plate. Kara Molnar went 3 for 3 for the day with 2 RBI's and batted in the first of several runs for the Vikings. April Szymczyk went 2 for 3 and batted in 3 RBI's to add to the Vikings score. The Vikings totaled 16 hits during the 5 innings of play. Ashely Hussey allowed only 1 walk and 3 earned runs in the 5 innings of play.

Stephanie Havens jumped on Ocean's momentum to earn her 4th win of the season in the 2nd game. Stephanie Havens allowed 2 earned runs to cross the plate and only walked 1 batter in 5 innings of play. The Vikings offense was unstoppable and continued their momentum from game one as well. Kara Molnar went 2 for 2 with 2 base on balls, and 3 runs scored. Stephanie Healy crushed the ball going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scores on 2 doubles and a triple earning 4 RBI's. Kurstin Binshedler was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and Emily Dancisin finished the game 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.

 

An outstanding game by the Vikings offensively and defensively. The Vikings are currently 4-0 in the conference and will take on Sussex County College on Saturday for a chance to earn 2 more conference wins.
