Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Softball kicked off their 2018-19 season in Myrtle Beach, SC, at The Ripken Experience. After two tough games on Monday (3/18) against nationally-ranked Herkimer College, the Vikings found their stride on Tuesday (3/19), and swept Finger Lakes CC in a doubleheader.
Game 1: Ocean freshman 3B/C Ryanne Fetzer belted a triple, while sophomore Hailey Dries pitched a complete-game shutout as the Vikings topped Finger Lakes, 8-0 for their 1st win of the season.
Game 2: Freshman SS/3B Mariel Almaria hit 2 for 4, and Dries picked up her 2nd pitching win of the day as Ocean defeated Finger Lakes 12-0 to complete the doubleheader sweep.
The Vikings return to action in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, March 20th with a pair of games against Fayetteville Tech CC, beginning at 3 p.m.
