Toms River, NJ - After beginning their season at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC, OCC Vikings Softball hosted Mercer County CC for a home-opening doubleheader on Wednesday (3/27). The OCC Vikings split the doubleheader against the Mercer Vikings, with a loss in the first game and a win in the second.
GAME 1:
A tough 6-1 loss. Ocean sophomore Hailey Dries pitched a complete game and hit 1 for 3 with a run scored. Danielle Payton batted 2 for 3 in the loss.
GAME 2:
The Vikings bounced back with a commanding 3-0 shutout in Game 2, with Hailey Dries again getting the start and batting 2 for 3 with an RBI. Mariel Almaria belted an RBI single as well.
The Vikings return to action on Thursday, April 4th, when they host Bucks County CC for a 3pm doubleheader.
