Toms River, NJ - Nationally-ranked #9 OCC Women's Soccer won their 5th straight match of the season following an 8-0 shutout of the visiting Atlantic Cape CC Buccaneers on Tuesday (9/28).
The Vikings and Bucs were locked in a scoreless draw through much of the 1st half, until Ocean freshman Marquella Boutsikaris (assisted by Jessica Bray) broke the stalemate in the 35th minute. Juliana Rettino (assisted by Melanie Lockwood) would add another goal in the 39th minute to close out the first half in Ocean's favor, 2-0. As the final score would indicate, the 2nd half was all-Ocean, with the team scoring 6 unanswered goals en route to the victory. The Vikings tallied a staggering 43 shots on goal, centering the action in the Bucs' defensive half for the large majority of the match.
The Vikings will play their next 3 matches on the road, the 1st of which will be on Thursday, September 29 at 4 P.M., against the Union College Owls.
