#8 OCC Women's Soccer Upsets #5 Onondaga in Nationals Consolation Round, 3-1

Toms River, NJ - The back-to-back Region 19 champion OCC Women's Soccer team bounced back from a brutal 8-0 1st round loss to top-seeded Delta College on Tuesday (11/7) to pick up a 3-1 consolation victory on Thursday (11/9) against the Lazers of Onondaga Community College.

Ocean freshman Alyssa Duff opened up scoring with a strike in the 12th minute (assisted by Taylor Lewis) that put Ocean in the lead, and 30 minutes later assisted on a goal by Lewis to put the Vikings up 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Ocean freshman Rory Hagen padded the Viking lead in the 77th minute (assisted by Taylor Lewis) before the Lazers broke the shutout in the match's 82nd minute. In a case of "too little too late", the Vikings held on for the win, ending their 2-game run at the NJCAA Championship tournament with a 1-1 split. OCC sophomore goalkeeper Holly Applegate made 5 stops in the win.

The Vikings finish their 2023 season with an overall record of 8-5-1, and as Region 19 champions.
