Toms River, NJ - OCC Vikings Volleyball (7-2) lost in five grueling sets to Raritan Valley Community College on Tuesday (9/18). The Golden Lions won the first two sets, and looked primed for a sweep before Ocean rallied back with key net play (both offensively and defensively), taking the next two and evening the score. Raritan then defeated Ocean in the fifth set by a 15-11 score. The Vikings tallied 30 kills and 6 blocks over the 5 closely-contested sets, and showed grit and determination throughout.
The Golden Lions have proven to be a proverbial thorn in the side of the Vikings this season, having won both of their matches, accounting for Ocean's only two losses. Will these two teams meet again in the postseason? Time will tell. In the meantime, Ocean hits the road to battle Middlesex County College on Thursday, September 20th, in a 7 p.m. conference showdown.
