OCC Vikings Volleyball Pushes Past Union CC in 5 Sets

Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Volleyball (6-3 overall, 4-1 in GSAC) won their second Region XIX/GSAC match in a row in a 5-set victory against the Owls of Union County College on Tuesday (10/1).

Ocean broke ahead early, winning the first two sets of the match (Set 1 - 25-21, Set 2 - 25-20) before Union fought back against elimination, with a 25-15 win in the third set, followed by a 25-20 fourth that forced the tiebreaker, with Ocean pulling off the 15-11 win.

Ocean sophomore outside hitter Samantha Rose (4 kills, 11 digs) and freshman libero Bailey Zrebiec (29 digs) had outstanding nights, while sophomore middle blocker Jenna Kulinski was a force at the net, with 4 solo blocks along with 8 kills on offense. Ocean's service was strong all night, allowing the Vikings to control the tempo of the early sets, and pull out the winner at the end.

OCC Volleyball returns to action on Saturday, October 5th, when they host Bergen Community College at 12 p.m. in what will be the Vikings' last home match of the regular season.
