Toms River, NJ - OCC Volleyball improved to 4-1 overall this season with a tri-match sweep of Bergen Community College and Brookdale Community College on Saturday (9/17).
MATCH 1: The Vikings bounced back from a 25-22 loss in the 1st set to take the next 3 en route to the victory. Freshman Riley Weeman's 4 blocks led the Vikings' defensive effort, while Katelyn Reilly's key aces and Madison Partenfelder's sets allowed Ocean to close out the Bulldogs with final scores of 25-12 (Set 2), 26-24 (Set 3), and 25-22 (Set 4).
MATCH 2: Ocean attacked Brookdale from the start, securing a 26-24 1st set win before falling to the Jersey Blues in the 2nd, 25-21. The Vikings battled back from deficits as steep as 10 points to win this match. Alexa McEwan and Katelyn Reilly each scored 15 points in the win, with McEwan's 37 digs leading both teams in the category.
The Vikings return to action on Saturday, September 24, when they travel to Passaic County Community College for a tri-match against the Panthers and the Blue Colts of Middlesex College.
