OCC Women's Volleyball Earns 2nd Straight Shutout in 3-0 Win Versus Brookdale CC

Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Volleyball earned their 2nd straight shutout win to start the season following a 3-0 sweep of Brookdale Community College on Tuesday (9/5). The Vikings opened up a lead early in the 1st set, with freshman Claudia Cosme serving through 7 straight points before the Jersey Blues returned fire. Cosme, who lead all scorers with 15 points on the night, is off to a torrid start this season. She is currently ranked 2nd nationally in points per set (5.2), and 3rd in service aces per set (1.83) and hitting percentage (.375). Ocean pressed Brookdale throughout the match with an offensive attack that was difficult to respond to. Set Scores: 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.

"Not our best performance tonight, but it was a great effort," reflected OCC Women's Volleyball Head Coach Alexis Whitney. "Amazing swings from Claudia, an outstanding performance from Anna M. in the back row (14 digs), as well as great energy from the bench carried us through."

The Vikings return to the court tomorrow, September 6, when they visit Atlantic Cape Community College for a 6 P.M. Region 19 matchup against the Bucs.
