Toms River, NJ - #3 OCC Women's Volleyball defeated #6 Brookdale CC, 3-1, on Saturday (10/21) to advance to the Region 19 N. Atlantic B District Championship round, to be held on October 27! The Vikings will face the winner of #2 Raritan Valley CC versus #7 Montgomery County CC, who will compete this Wednesday, October 25 at 6 P.M. OCC freshman Claudia Cosme led the Viking offensive effort with 15 points, while sophomore team captain Madison Partenfelder scored 12 points, and led the court with 27 assists. Partenfelder, who has a total of 871 assists through her 2 seasons at Ocean, earned her 500th assist of the season in this match!
Following the Vikings' win, OCC Head Coach Alexis Whitney was pleased to get the win, if not entirely satisfied with the way it was won. "We really lacked communication in the 1st set, and our serve/receive was horrible," stated Whitney. "We improved, though we had rough endings in the 2nd and 3rd sets. Set 4 was brutal, but we finished the deal. We'll need to be at our best when we face Raritan or MontCo."
