Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Volleyball won their 2nd match to start the season following a 3-0 home opening sweep of the visiting Buccaneers of Atlantic Cape CC on Wednesday (9/4).
Ocean sophomore outside hitter Claudia Cosme appeared to be in midseason form, with 11 points, 18 digs, and 7 kills on the night, while freshman setter/right side hitter TaraLynn Charland impressed with 7 kills and 10 points in a match that saw the Vikings battle back against an aggressive Bucs offense early in each of the first 2 sets. Three Vikings (including Cosme) posted double-digit digs in this match, with sophomore libero Anna Malandro's 18 and sophomore middle hitter Jordan Motyka's 11 keeping scoring opportunities alive, while sophomore middle hitter Abby Szuba pounded the Bucs for 10 kills and 10 points.
The Vikings return to the court on Monday, September 9, when they'll host the Roadrunners of RCSJ Gloucester at 7 P.M.
