OCC Esports Sweeps Competition, Improves to 4-1 on the Season

Toms River, NJ - OCC Vikings Esports improved to 4-1 overall this season (playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) after a strong showing on Thursday night (3/5), with all three of Ocean's individual players winning, and their doubles pairing picking up a hard-fought victory.

With three weeks remaining until the postseason, two Vikings are currently ranked in the top five: Jacob Leiva (1st) and David Ripinsky (5th) by NJCAAE. Ocean's doubles team of Leiva/Ripinsky is ranked 3rd, with their only loss coming to the currently undefeated 1st seed (Centralia College). "There have been some ups and downs for the players this season, but they've bounced back from their losses and look to be peaking at the right time," remarked OCC Esports Head Coach John Ruhl. "I expect all of our team to make deep runs into the playoffs with a great opportunity to make it to the podium."

The Vikings return to action this Thursday, March 12th at 7 p.m. in OCC's Larson Student Center (2nd Floor).
