Toms River, NJ - OCC Baseball opened their season in impressive fashion with a 19-1 victory against visiting Raritan Valley Community College. Ocean sophomore Don Zellman surrendered 2 hits while striking out 9 for the pitching victory, while returning NJCAA All-American Kyle Lauria continued where he left off last season, going 3-3 with 2 triples and 3 RBIs. Sophomores Mike O'Halloran and Tom Campo each collected 2 hits, while freshmen Matt Sullivan doubled and drove in 2 runs in a victory that the Vikings led from the 1st inning onward.
Ocean will return to the field on Friday, March 15th, when they host Luzerne County Community College for a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a week-long trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, to participate in a series of out-of-town matchups at The Ripken Experience.
