Vikings Overcome 18-Point Deficit to Defeat Northampton, 100-90

Toms River, NJ - Bolstered by a outstanding performance from sophomore guard Mike Golden and an inspired second half, the Ocean County College Vikings battled back from an 18-point deficit to defeat the Northampton Community College Spartans, 100-90. 

Northampton had the Vikings on their heels in the first half, scoring early and often, even establishing an 18-point lead at one point, but the Vikings fought back, narrowing Northampton's lead to 52-43 by the end of the half. The Vikings returned for the second half and continued their momentum, taking the lead four minutes in, and maintaining it until the final buzzer. They outscored Northampton 57-38 in the second half, and sophomore Mike Golden finished with a team-leading 41 points, including 8 three-pointers. Corey Thomas added 23 points, and recent Region XIX player of the week Ted Thelemaque added a double-double, with 19 points and 13 rebounds. The victory improves the Vikings' record to 11-7 overall, and 11-4 in Region XIX.

The Vikings' next game is on Thursday (1/26), a home matchup against Bucks County Community College. Tip-off is at 5pm.
