OCC Men's Basketball Falls to #12 RCSJ Gloucester in a Heartbreaker, 85-84

Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Basketball fell to nationally-ranked #12 RCSJ Gloucester at the buzzer on Thursday night (2/2), 85-84. Josh Kline led Ocean with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Brien Dunphy II scored 16 points, Ethan Paul 15 points, Dallas Weisse 14 points (all in the 2nd half) in the loss, while Channing Williams brought in 8 rebounds.

Ocean and Gloucester traded leads and momentum throughout this thrilling matchup, with the Vikings roaring back from being down by 9 points after the 1st half to taking control for most of the 2nd, until RCSJ Gloucester freshman Eriq Campbell landed a reverse layup in the match's closing seconds to secure the Roadrunner win.

OCC Men's Basketball Head Coach Patrick Boylan was reflective after the tough loss: "Losing at the buzzer is always a gut wrenching experience, because you go back and question what you could have done differently. However, one thing I do not question is the heart of our team. We didn't get the result we'd like, but that doesn't diminish the effort and tenacity we played with. Gloucester deserves a ton of credit as well for the relentlessness they played with at the end. We just have to quickly regroup and get ready for another quality opponent on the road at MontCo tomorrow."

The Vikings next travel to national #11 Montgomery County CC on Saturday, February 4 for a 2 P.M. Region 19 matchup.
