Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Vikings (seeded 5th) defeated Rowan College at Gloucester County (seeded 4th) in the first round of the NJCAA Region XIX D-III playoffs, by a final score of 62-52. Leading Ocean to victory was Shaniece Hardy, who scored 18 points, followed by Courtney Hagaman (16 points, 16 rebounds) and Nicole Gardner (14 points, 11 rebounds), who both finished with double-doubles. Sydney Ulrich also contributed, scoring 12 points in the winning effort.
The Vikings' next game (in the Region XIX Semi-Finals) will be at Brookdale Community College on Saturday (3/4) at 12pm, against first seed and tournament host, Brookdale Community College.
