Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Basketball defeated Sussex County Community College, 65-59, winning their first game of the season.
Ocean sophomore guard Shaunna Bruker was a dominant force on both ends of the court, with a 23-point, 28-rebound performance, leading the team in both statistical categories, while fellow sophomore guard Molly Collins added 16 points and 4 steals in the win. The Vikings battled both against both the Skylanders and foul trouble in this contest, with freshmen guards Alexandra Toth (8 points, 3 rebounds) and Haley Ocskasy (6 points, 4 rebounds) exiting early, but thanks to a 3rd quarter in which Ocean outscored Sussex 24-7, the Vikings provided themselves with enough cushion to hang on and seize the win.
The Vikings look to improve their record to 2-0 on Tuesday, November 19th when they host the Cougars of Camden County College in a 5 p.m. GSAC showdown.
