Toms River, NJ - Ocean sophomores Molly Collins (25 points, 10 rebounds) and Shaunna Bruker (14 points, 24 rebounds) scored double doubles and freshmen Allie Toth (15 points) and Haley Ocskasy (12 points) stepped up when it counted, as OCC Women's Basketball defeated Sussex County CC, 69-60, to advance to the Region XIX Championship Quarterfinals!
It was a tense, back-and-forth battle through much of the matchup, with Ocean pulling ahead, and Sussex clawing their way back. The Vikings led by 6 points after the 1st quarter, and by just 1 at the half, but the Vikings managed to pull away midway through the 4th quarter, and held on to close the Skylanders out.
#2 Ocean moves on to meet #3 Community College of Philadelphia next Saturday (2/29) at 2pm, at host Northampton CC. Along with moving on to the Region XIX Championship round, the Vikings will be looking to defeat CC of Philadelphia to avenge their loss to them from early in the regular season.
