Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Women's Basketball sophomore Nikki Lozito scored 21 points and pulled in 7 rebounds in the Vikings' 55-43 loss to the visiting Skylanders of Sussex County Community College on Saturday (Nov. 20). Lozito, a Barnegat, NJ native, is Ocean's leading scorer over the team's 1st 2 games, after a 17-point performance against RCSJ - Gloucester in the Vikings' season opener.
The game began as a back-and-forth affair, with Ocean and Sussex trading points, trying to establish dominance. The Skylanders ended the 1st half with a 27-21 lead, and managed to pull away for good in a pivotal 3rd quarter in which they outscored the Vikings by 7 points. Ocean freshman Jordan Viggiano was a force to be reckoned with in the paint, pulling in 19 rebounds and contributing 10 points in a strong Ocean effort.
The Vikings return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 5 P.M. when they travel to Bergen Community College to try to secure their 1st win of the season.
