Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Basketball won their 2024 season opener on Saturday (11/9) with a 69-65 road victory at Lehigh Carbon CC.
The Vikings were firing on all cylinders from the outset, opening up a 4-point lead after the 1st period that expanded to 6 by halftime. Four Vikings scored in double figures, with freshman Brooke Schmidt dropping a team-leading 19 points, 7 steals, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, sophomore Ashanti Boothe scoring 17 points, freshman Kaliana Kearney 12 points, and freshman Angie Matthews supplying 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists in the win.
Ocean will look to keep the momentum going in their home opener, when they host Passaic County CC on Tuesday, November 12 at 5 P.M.
