OCC Women's Soccer Wins 3rd Straight Region 19 Championship!
Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College women's soccer team captured their 3rd consecutive Region 19 championship on Saturday (11/2) with a thrilling 2-1 win in front of a raucous OCC Stadium home crowd.
The #3 seed Vikings found themselves trailing in this match 1-0 following a goal in the 13th minute by #2 RCSJ Cumberland's Summer Nasatka, but equalized quickly when freshman Katherin Munoz scored her 12th goal of the season with an absolute laser bolt in the 22nd minute. The 1-1 stalemate held for over 60 minutes, until with barely a minute remaining in regulation, Ocean sophomore defender/forward Rory Hagen sent a deflected header from Munoz into the back of the net to lock in the upset victory.

In a ceremony immediately following the match, OCC's Rory Hagen was named Region 19 Most Valuable Player, while OCC Women's Soccer Head Coach Breeana Cassidy was named Region 19 Coach of the Year, the 3rd straight season that Coach Bree has received this recognition.

The Vikings will now look ahead to the NJCAA National Championship tournament, which take place at Batavia, NY's Genesee College, from November 13-17. Seeding information will be announced shortly.
