OCC Golf Places 3rd at GSAC Championship; Advances to Region XIX Tournament

Toms River, NJ - The Ocean County College Golf Team placed 3rd overall at yesterday's (4/27) Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) championship, held at Morris County's Flanders Valley Golf Course.

The Vikings battled the gusty wind and brutally cold temperatures to shoot their second-lowest total of the 2022 season, 372, finishing just seven strokes shy of 2nd place RCSJ Gloucester (365) and behind champion County College of Morris (347). Ocean's first club Josh Kerley led the Vikings and placed 2nd overall with a fine round of 84 to earn First Team All-GSAC honors. Teammate Matt Heberling, playing in the No.4 spot, chipped in with his season's best, 93, to place 10th and win 2nd Team All-GSAC honors. Teammates Phil Antoniotti, Dane Bodziak and Vincent Servis also contributed to OCC's terrific showing.

The Vikings will next compete on May 2 and 3, when they travel to Union County's Ash Brook Golf Course to compete in the 2-round NJCAA Region XIX Championship tournament, with the winning team and next five lowest-scoring individual players earning a trip to New York for June's NJCAA National Final.
